Miami-Dade Transit People’s Transportation Plan Program

In 2002, the citizens of Miami-Dade County voted in a one-half percent sales tax increase to be dedicated to transportation improvements amounting to $17 billion over a 25-year period. Initial projects included: extension of the heavy rail Metrorail system to the Miami International Airport and development of a new intermodal transit center adjacent to the airport; procurement of new Metrorail and Metromover (automated people mover) cars; the addition of 586 new hybrid buses to the bus fleet; a new bus rapid transit corridor development and improvement; and the introduction of a new Automated Fare Collection System.

Services Provided: The Allen Group provided a variety of program management services, including: community relations and public participation; government affairs and legislative outreach; project controls: information technology support; database management; small business/disadvantaged business enterprise outreach: and development of a Customer Service Business Plan for the implementation of the new Automated Fare Collection System.
