SFO T3 to ITB Secure Connector

This $20-million project at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) involved a new secured bridge/walkway connecting United Airlines domestic and international boarding areas. It included a long-span enclosed bridge that extends from Terminal 3 (T3) to a tower at the International Terminal Building (ITB). The tower has two elevators and a set of escalators to transfer passengers from the lower level up to the departures area. This was the first project that the airport carried out using the design-build delivery method.

Services Provided: The Allen Group team worked closely with the airport’s staff to help them get the best value using the design-build method. Services provided during design and construction included: programming, design, and constructability reviews; scheduling; cost control; bidding and procurement; project controls; quality control/quality assurance; monitoring construction progress and schedules; evaluating progress payments; preparing daily/monthly/quarterly reports; contractor negotiation; monitoring safety program; and oversight of punchlists, start-up, and closeout.
