Assistant Resident Engineer
By participating in The Allen Group’s Career Path Program I have gained a much better sense of where I want to end up career-wise, and I even have a plan to help me realize my goals.
I’ve been able to work closely with a variety of experts who exposed me to all facets of project management, and helped me identify my particular areas of interest. I’ve really benefitted from having a mentor who has already overcome a lot of the hurdles I’m facing now, and who can answer my questions and support my growth. Beyond mentoring, the Career Path Program is an amazing way to get to know your peers. It keeps you connected and learning from each other, regardless of which projects you’re currently working on.

Assistant Project Manager
Since joining The Allen Group’s Career Path Program, I’ve gained a sense of professional community I didn’t have before. The program keeps you close to your peers, but also encourages you to be a leader.
When I joined The Allen Group 2 years ago, I knew I was ready to get started in the industry, but had no idea how quickly I would get to diversify my skillset under the guidance of experienced mentors. For instance, I’ve learned how to communicate effectively with stakeholders and have had several opportunities to lead project status update and design review meetings. The Career Path Program has also kept me connected to a group of peers who are competitive and motivated to be the best, but also friendly and very supportive. This makes for a kind of kinship that exists outside the office and well beyond working hours.

Executive Assistant
At The Allen Group, you can really tell that people want you to succeed. It’s that kind of support that’s given me the courage to take chances professionally and explore new opportunities.
I came to The Allen Group with a BA in marketing communications and a few years of work experience, but no clear career path. My position with The Allen Group has since exposed me to many different aspects of marketing and contracting for project and construction management services. I’ve also become really close to my peers by being a part of The Allen Group’s Career Path Program, and the mentorship provided has helped me think about where I want to go and what I need to do to get there.

Resident Engineer
Because The Allen Group is a small firm, you get immediate project exposure and a lot of responsibility early on. I was promoted to a project manager position less than 5 years into my career, which I don’t think would have been possible anywhere else.
With 3-plus years of experience in civil engineering design, I came to The Allen Group looking to learn about all aspects of project management. The Allen Group hired me as an Office Engineer for a $120-million rail transit project, and gave me the opportunity to learn from a talented and diverse team of people. I had constant support from my managers and colleagues, and as I gained experience and took on more and more responsibilities, I was promoted to Resident Engineer.
